Toyota closes the year with a bang, Innova crosses 4,500 Retail sales


 Celebrates 1st Anniversary of Innova – “By Listening to Customers”
 Innova clocks impressive performance in December 2005 with 4,500 retail sales
 Since launch (Mar-Dec ’05), total Innova sales (32,000 units)
 Corolla records sales of 640 units in Dec ’05
 In Jan-Dec 2005, Corolla achieves total sales of 8,974 units maintaining its segment leadership with market share of 32%

Bangalore, January 3, 2006: Toyota Innova, India’s first 3-row seating passenger car has achieved impressive retail sales of 4500 units in December 2005, which is a rarity in the Indian Auto Industry. Customised finance schemes to handle different customer segments and marketing activities has resulted in G1 & G2 Innova models running out-of-stock in most dealerships across the country.

Since its launch in Feb-end earlier this year, Innova has registered total sales of 32,000 units during Mar-Dec ’05. Toyota Innova has captured 33% market share of the MPV industry in the first year of its launch itself and retained its market leadership, which it had acquired since Qualis. The volumes for Innova have also come from the passenger car segment, which contribute, to 25% of total sales.

Innova has been well accepted in the Indian market and we will be aggressively targeting the passenger car segment with an aim to sell 40,000 Innova’s in 2006.

Corolla, India’s largest selling car in the Executive segment continues to lead the segment with wholesales of 640 units in Dec ’05 and retail sales of 867 units. Corolla has clocked total sales of 8,974 units from January to December 2005 maintaining its leadership and market share of 32% in this key market.

The sales figures of world-class luxury sedan Camry and Landcruiser Prado stood at 794 and 162 units respectively from January to December 2005, taking the total sales of Toyota vehicles in India to 42,123 units.
