Bajaj Launches Avenger DTS-i Cruiser

June 10, 2005: Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL), one of India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers today launched the much-awaited Avenger with DTS-i technology.

The Avenger is the technology-showcase for the entire two-wheeler industry and will kick-start the Cruiser segment in India. A typically low-slung bike, the Avenger compares to the finest in the world and will be manufactured at the state-of-the-art Chakan plant.

Says Mr. S. Sridhar, VP (Marketing & Sales – 2W), “The new Avenger retains all the advantages – and indeed surpasses some of them – of the original Eliminator. We have also been able to offer it at an extremely competitive price of only 60,000/- ex-showroom New Delhi. We expect that this initiative will bring back the pleasure of riding back onto Indian roads.”

Rahul Bajaj, Chairman, BAL, said, “Once again our R&D team has stood up to the occasion and come out with a class leader product comparable to the best available internationally.”

The Avenger comes with the 180 cc DTS-i engine technology that incorporates another innovative Bajaj technology – ExhausTEC – for better low-end torque. Riders can now expect more low-end and mid-range grunt and crisp carburetion for instant response in tandem with a light throttle feel. The Silencer has a throatier note for the “genuine cruiser” feel.

In addition, vibrations have been eliminated at the handlebar and foot-pegs for a comfortable all day ride. The Avenger has a tremendous ability to soak-in normal road undulations and bumps and due to suspension travel increase and optimization of damping rates so that the rider gets a better poise and straight-line stability.

With the Avenger joining the immensely successful Pulsar twins, Bajaj’s stranglehold of the Premium motorcycle segment will be further strengthened.
